Hello! It been so long since we uploaded a style post or any post for that matter, but we are back! Between school and work we've had zero days off these past few weeks, which forced us to take a break from blogging. Now that we are on winter break we hope to add loads of content, including a few ideas that we have been thinking about for the last few weeks. It has been 6 months in LA for us and we are loving it: we're finding so much inspiration in the people and places we visit. We have more to share, but we want to save that for upcoming posts... hopefully.

Winter Mood

Winter is coming and I am feeling the 70's vibe garments with loud pops of color, tonal pieces, sleek statement party dresses (holiday party garb) and knits on top of knits. To complete my chic, I'll be trying rih rihs' flawless make-up look with a perfect winter shade lippy!

Whats on your winter mood board?

Top Trends From NYFW

All knotted up!

Tanya Taylor/3.1 Phillip Lim/Rosie Assoulin
My favorite trend right now has to be knots. Knotting a loose tee or tying a woven around your waist adds an extra style element to your look. So happy to see design incorporating this cool trend that is going to be huge next spring/summer

Shoulders, Shoulders.. Shoulders
Alice+Olivia/Milly/Brandon Maxwell
If you got 'em flaunt 'em. Shoulders are going to be your greatest asset come Spring, so its best to start searching for a hot off the shoulder blouse NOW!

The Statement bag
Diane von Furstenberg/Jason Wu
Metallic gold or Fringed, investing in a statement bag is a sure way to add your stamp on an everyday look.

Orange, the new black
Jill Stuart/Altuzarra/Prabal Gurung
Easily the winning color for spring. Adopting this vibrant hue into your wardrobe should be a simple task with garments coming in various shades of orange.

Sheer
Lela Rose/Tracy Resse
Sheer is huge on the runways, designers Tracy Resse and Lela Rose both had strong collections displaying their take on the trend

Which NYFW trend are you looking forward to rocking the most?

MEns WEAR

Shirt: Mens Gap, Jeans; Joes, Shoes; Zara

I've long had a love for men's clothes and I've mentioned before how I am known for going through my dad's closet and stealing his shirts. I actually have a really cool collection of 90's pullovers thanks to him (love you pops). Mens shirts are often roomy and simple so they go with anything from a skirt to your favorite pair of jeans. Don't be afraid to look around the mens section or shop the closets of some of your favorite men, you'd be surprised at the stylish looks you can put together.

Tibi ties

tibi

Feel in love with the Tibi brand once I came across the off the shoulder poplin top. First off I love any thing off the shoulder because anytime I'm allowed to show my collarbone I'm for it, if that wasn't enough to peak my interest the tie detail certainly was. Tibi's ties didn't stop at the brands poplin top which is a favorite among bloggers and fashion lovers a like you can find dresses, pants and skirts all featuring this simply chic detail on Tibi.com. Sometimes we get so tied up (pun definitely intended) in embellishments and hardware we forget how beautiful simplicity is. I've been a little obsessed with tie details thanks to Tibi leading me to create a set starring some of my favorite Tibi items.

Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal

YSL

The Bowes Museum and the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent are collaborating to create Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal, which will be presenting a comprehensive display of the French fashion designer’s work and life. The YSL show will highlight the defining elements of his vision, and the significant influence it has had on fashion and the way we understand womenswear. Farfetch reached out to us to participate in their Saint Laurent competition. We created a set around YSL's Iconic Smoking jacket. We styled this piece in a way that is both masculine and sexy. We lost the blouse and added a mesh bra to add a modern spin on this classic look. The gold high heeled sandals are a perfect pairing with the tailored trousers, adding the gold clutch creates a cohesive look. Of course no iconic look is complete without a bold red lip and fiery nails. This polished look is a style that will last forever.

Zara Ankle Boots

Shirt: Zara; Jeans: Joe Jeans; Shoes: Zara; Jacket: Banana Republic Factory

The first week of Zara's sale I grabbed up the only thing I decided I couldn't live without, which were these lace-up ankle boots. Obsessed! I'am even more excited to carry these over to fall, the color makes it an easy transition piece. I hope you are enjoying whats left of summer.
What are some of the pieces you all picked up from Zara's sales?

Saint Heron x Puma : WORD TO THE WOMAN

Solange's recent collab with puma gave birth to new line of Puma's suede classics. Each of the four colors are amped up with texture and cool designs, giving a unique/Solange touch to the classic sneaker. This collab also gifted us with some creative visuals and behind it, inspiring stories. Named "Word To The Woman" this campaign shines a light on 14 women who redefine roles in various walks of life. If not for the chic style and colorways, I want a pair of these sneakers because some pretty inspiring women are rocking them. I purchased a pair from her last collection with Puma and it looks like I'll be buying another pair. Gotta love Solo for her amazing sense of fashion and eye for the arts. Three collections later as the Art Director at Puma, Solange is further proving her fashion influence. To see more images from this campaign go to wordtothewoman.com  and shop the collection HERE

More From Resort 16' | Rachel Comey x Rag & Bone

Rachel Comey

Rag & Bone

During this years resort presentations I found myself drawn not only to the garments but the creative way designers approached creating their lookbooks. I love when fashion and art are used to showcase more than clothes as well a designer/brand's aesthetic.  I enjoyed both Rachel Comey's and Rag and Bones Resort 16 presentations, both exhibiting a unique way of capturing their garments. Rachel Comey deviating from the norm; decided to document a dance performance resulting in a lookbook with movement and expression. Every woman wants clothes she can move in, Comey's newest collection proves this notion in the coolest way possible. Rag and Bone stuck to a fairly neutral color pallet using angles to capture different sides of the garment. I'd describe this presentation as cold and moody, way off base from typical resort wear, but somehow it works. Pinning sporty understated garments against the season's norm of vacation wear (Light, airy, barely there pieces). Rag gives us clothes for the girl who doesn't get away often, but still makes sure her street style is on point. Rag and bone know how to put together artful lookbooks just as visually pleasing as the garments they are showcasing.

I hope you all enjoyed these collections as much as I did. See more at Style.com
