The Denim Series Part II

Top; Gap, Jeans; H&M, Jacket; Banana Republic Factory, Shoes; Target

One of my favorite ways to style denim is mixing shades of grey. Both the jeans and shirt are very light shades so to add some dimension in this washed look I added a denim jacket around the waist for aesthetic reasons. This look is denim overload, but I believe if you are going to go for a denim on denim look you should go all out! If you don't want to go too far with the the look I suggest wrapping another colored button down shirt at the waist to break it up. There are a multitude of ways to style denim garments; I recently rediscovered a denim dress in my closet and thought how sick it would look half buttoned over a pair a nice jeans.. The possibilities are endless. When styling any outfit I would encourage everyone to take risk in making your daily look true to your style.

The Denim Series prt 1

Shirt and Necklaces; Banana Republic factory store, Jeans; Goodwill
To know me is to know I am obsessed with denim, any given day you can catch me in  a look thats built around it. This is why our new series is dedicated to the textile that is Denim. We both love a good pair of jeans and a nice denim button down. This twill textile can be translated so many ways outside of jeans; from a denim skirt, cut off shorts or in patchwork on other garments. Denim pairs easily with anything and is our preferred foundation to putting together a chic outfit/wardrobe. The jeans I'm wearing are not new to the blog, I've told you all how I got them from Goodwill in a much darker washed, bleached and distressed them. Finding the perfect distressed jeans is as easy as buying an old pair and revamping them yourself. I'm currently looking for a pair of used jeans to make cut-off shorts for the summer. For the first look  in our series I styled a denim on denim look, which happens to be my favorite way to wear this textile.

Tips to style Denim on Denim
1) Mixed different washes
I tend to mix lighter shades of washed denim when wearing denim on denim.
2) Add a print
To add a nice pop to you mono outfit pair your outfit with a bold animal print; I usually wear a cheetah print slip on shoe but most recently have worn my printed pumas on sale Here
3) Show a lil' skin
To avoid looking too buttoned up, leave a button or two open on your shirt. This is also perfect for showing off any cute necklaces you may have.

*Stay Tuned for PRT 2!
